    8 Financial Lessons From 2020

    January 3, 2021

Reading Time: 3 Minutes Happy New Year everyone and WELCOME BACK! Hands up if you’re very excited for what 2021 will bring? Haha, I exited 2020 with a whimper, with a (lonely) jog in the park on NYE followed by watching “Tenet” (confusing) with MrsFrugalSamurai, and get this… going to SLEEP before midnight (exhausting), thereby missing out on the fireworks (disappointing) and also ringing in the New Year with MrsFrugalSamurai (chastising). D’oh! Getting old in my years. Anyhow, as much as I love to look ahead, it’s also important to look back on the previous year because well… 2020 had it’s moments didn’t it? So in no particular order, I…

New Zealand Properties Running Red Hot – Is Australia Next?

    December 7, 2020

Reading Time: 2 Minutes What’s up everyone! Hope we’re all having a great weekend. I know I did, because we were social to the MAX. Felt good to break up the weekend routine of staying indoors for once. Although that doesn’t stop me posting quality and titillating content on this quality and titillating blog. As you might have seen with the headline, but property values in New Zealand are SCORCHING. Residential property prices have surged by a whopping 20% compared to last year, pushing the median price of a house in Auckland, New Zealand’s most populous city, above NZ$1m (AUD $950k) for the first time. And that’s not all, take…

    RBA Cuts Rate

    November 8, 2020

Reading Time: 2 Minutes True to form, on Melbourne Cup day, the Reserve Bank of Australia cut the official interest rate by 0.15% to a historic low of 0.1%. Well, well, well – so they cut it again eh? Although to be fair, with Australia plunging into a Coronacession, and the likelihood of elevated unemployment numbers, the RBA is committed to doing whatever it can to support jobs and the economy. And one of their biggest weapons – is cutting the official cash rate. This is supposed to boost business borrowing and consumer spending to try and stimulate the economy to create jobs. OK fair enough, but what does a…

    November 1, 2020

Reading Time: 2 Minutes Uh oh, looks like we are on a roller-coaster again. Plenty of action going on with the 2nd and 3rd waves overseas and US election dominating the headlines as we head into November. NOVEMBER! Wow, can you guys believe it – where does the time fly eh! Been crazy busy this month, mainly cos work is letting everyone back into the office again. Sigh, back on the hamster wheel we go it seems. Steady as she goes with investing, same as with September, we jumped in and out of a few trades – nothing to write home about. Oh and fingers-bloody-crossed but we are close on…

A Shout Out To Aussies Stranded Overseas

    September 27, 2020

Reading Time: 2 Minutes Attention! Today’s post is about bringing awareness to an issue you might not have thought about – and that is the plight of thousands of Aussies stuck overseas, and wanting to come home. A big thank you to The Aussie Minimalist Doc for highlighting this issue. Although COVID-19 numbers are starting to settle down here in Australia, overseas the numbers tell a different story. The 2nd wave is well and truly upon the UK and Eurozone, and are escalating dramatically in India, the Middle East and the US amongst others. As you can imagine, there are thousands of Australian citizens in those areas who want to,…
