    August 2, 2020

Reading Time: 2 Minutes Hello everyone! Hope we are all keeping well during these trying times. We just heard this evening that Victoria will go into stage 4 lockdowns this week. These tough new restrictions will be an enhanced form of social distancing, and expected to last for at least the next 6 weeks. It involves 8pm curfews, closure of non-essential businesses and school students going back to home learning. “Gulp” Godspeed our Victorian cousins. Closer to home, all I have to say is: NEW SOUTH WALES ARE WE WATCHING? Why the state government is still taking a reactive approach… is beyond comprehension. Why not lock us down so we can get…

How The COVID-19 Pandemic Has Defined Our Generation

    July 29, 2020

Reading Time: 2 Minutes Today’s post is a bit on the sombre side, courtesy of demographer Mark McCrindle regarding how the Coronavirus has affected different generations. According to his recent report, the age at which we’re exposed to a transformative event determines how embedded it will be in our psyche. And it’s unsurprising that 84% of adults surveyed agree that the COVID-19 pandemic will play a significant role in shaping the younger generations of today. Top 5 emotions in response to COVID-19 Similarly, COVID-19 has extended into all areas of our life – from the way we travel, to work, to shopping habits, socializing (or lackthereof) and how we approach…

Financial Lessons From 2020 (So Far)

    July 5, 2020

Reading Time: 5 Minutes Whoa ladies and gentlemen – it’s the midway point of what has been a VERY interesting year to say the least. A big determinant of future success is leaning on past experiences and it’s always good to have a bit of self-reflection. Therefore today’s post will be the perfect opportunity for that. Now, before we begin – these are my lessons for my future self, you may agree, you may disagree but I do hope you find them thought provoking. Lesson 1 – Nothing Beats Experience I think 2020 has once again shown up the fundamental difference between book smart vs street smart. I look back…

    “Australia in Recession” (Youtube Video)

    June 18, 2020

Reading Time: 1 Minute Hello everyone! So the dreaded “R” word has finally come for Australia. Our federal treasurer Josh Frydenberg has confirmed that yes, we are in recession. In this video, learn about what a recession means, what happened during the last recession, what to expect this time round and also how to prepare yourself for the upcoming recession… My outtake? Be prepared for what’s to come but don’t over-react! There will always be opportunities in the market. Speaking of… I might hit up a more detailed piece on a recession if things get REALLY bad. Here’s hoping we’ll come out of it OK. Did you enjoy this post?…

    Are Things Back To Normal?

    June 14, 2020

Reading Time: 2 Minutes MrsFrugalSamurai told me an interesting story today. Whilst she was at the shops, an elderly lady was using her umbrella to maintain social distancing in a “forceful manner”. Apparently the sheer number of people going about their business made this a thankless task. I can just imagine our heroine, battling against the horde with her brolly-cum-sword like a crazed Mary Poppins. I guess the moral of the story is that we’re all heading outdoors now and everything is back to normal? Certainly it’s not true in other parts of the world, where escalating cases in the US, Brazil and India among others makes COVID-19 as big…
