    World Happiness Report 2019

Reading Time: 2 Minutes Sorry guys but gotta make this one short and snappy today, chiefly because we’ve got a couple of friends over for dinner and we are GROSSLY unprepared. But that’s why UberEats exist right? Right. Anyway, before they come, I thought I’d share this pretty cool report I found surfing the inter-webs. It’s the World Happiness Report 2019 which highlights which countries’ citizens are the “happiest”. The survey, conducted by Gallup, uses a three-year rolling average of survey responses around six factors: GDP per capita; social support; life expectancy; freedom to make life choices; generosity; and corruption levels. And no surprises here with the Scandinavians all well…

How Much to Make $10,000 in Dividends?

Reading Time: 2 Minutes Howdy guys, how’s everyone? So I was on a hot date with MrsFrugalSamurai last night and she was lamenting the fact that she feels pretty burnt out recently. Fair enough I was thinking, you have to put up with me dear… But no, she was feeling burnt out mainly through her J.O.B. “Why can’t I just be a stay-at-home-housewife!” she exclaims, looking directly at me. Sigh, why can’t I be the housewife instead!..Is not what I said to her in reply. Luckily for me, she moved on to regale me with updates of the latest James Charles spat…something about a guy with two first names not…

    What I’m Viewing

Reading Time: 2 Minutes What a monumental election that was last night guys! For those of us who aren’t aware, here in Oz – we just had the federal election across the country to select the ruling government and Prime Minister. The incumbent liberal coalition party (think, the UK conservatives, or US Republicans) was tipped to lose by a landslide, given all the kerfuffle which they’ve put us all through in the last couple of years (I’ll spare you the details, but a lot’s to do with the rotating chair of prime ministers). So it was a bit of a shock to see them be elected again over the Labor…

    Fragile or Anti-Fragile?

Reading Time: 2 Minutes What’s up everyone! How’s our weekends coming along? A big hello to our Northern hemisphere cousins – hoping that you guys are enjoying the Northern Summer as it sl-ow-ly creeps along, don’t worry – it’ll get there! Meanwhile, yours truly experienced a very rare event last night… We went to “take in a show” at the iconic Sydney Opera House. Well, rather we went to support MrsFrugalSamurai’s Mum as she performed as part of the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs. I quite enjoyed myself surprisingly, chiefly because my own singing voice has oft been compared to a duck not having a good time. MrsFrugalSamurai has always said she…

    Beijing, Hong Kong and Taipei

Reading Time: 3 Minutes Hooray! Finally have a moment to settle back in from the epic month we just had! Excuse moi for going AWOL during that period, first going overseas and then being KO-ed with this suspicious flu-like illness. After the short post last week (here) to let everyone know we are still alive, here’s a longer version of what transpired on our trip. Beijing People ask me why I am always heading back to Beijing? Is it the crisp, clean air? The generosity and agreeableness of the locals? Well, er…not quite. It’s because Beijing is my home town and a lot of my close relatives are there. In…
