9 Thoughts From the Birthday Boy (A Digital Reflection)

    April 4, 2018

What’s up folks! Hope everyone had a long and refreshing Easter weekend. Judging from the stories and facial tans at the office, seems like many people took this opportunity to sit around the beach enjoying the last rays of the Autumn sun. Sounds pretty chilled right (ha! See what I did there)? Not much different for MrsFrugalSamurai-to-be and I, we were mainly knocking off some final wedding preparations (wedding series here), catching up with friends and hanging out with family. Pretty standard stuff “rubs nose on sleeve”. Life’s been a bit full on recently so I’m very grateful for these few days to recalibrate and catch a breather. And wouldn’t…

    The Rich Exercise, Do You?

    April 2, 2018

What’s up Frugal Samuraites, hoping everyone’s having a great Easter! Four days off people – that’s like school holidays for adults! I tell you what, judging by my social media feeds, seems like most people used this opportunity to get out of town and explore this great country of ours. MrsFrugalSamurai and I didn’t have any grand plans or travel itineraries, rather we used this time to catch up with family and friends over good food and good wine. Couple of nights ago we caught up with some friends and had a blow-your-mind, tip top meal over at a local restuarant. “Oooo, this dish tastes amazing” “Yep, I wish I knew…

2 More Things I’ve Learnt From Planning A Wedding (Almost Time!)

    March 14, 2018

Far out, where has the time gone eh guys? I was so pumped up this morning – get this done, tick that off, do this, forget that, tick, tick, tick. ANNNNND typical as it is – the day got the better of me. Amazing how each day flies by. Time is so precious. That’s exactly how it feels like with the wedding. Admittedly, MrsFrugalSamurai-to-be and I came in pretty late with the whole planning thing. After all, I’ve been to weddings – they seem easy to do right? Grab a bunch of people together in a picturesque location, say some words, hey presto, next couple please… oh what’s that? A…

    A Friend’s Brave Decision (Depression’s a Bitch)

    March 5, 2018

The camera pans out to a living room, at the corner there is a young man sitting at a dimly lit table. There is guitar music playing from his laptop…  His voice starts singing very loudly and very off-key, indeed an observer would even remark that the young man sings “poorly”. The young man is suddenly self-aware and stops abruptly to look into the camera… Oh, hi guys – ahem, excuse me there – for a second I got lost in the music, I was trying to find some inspiration online and stumbled onto some old tunes via Youtube. You know how it is – before long, one song turns…

Grit and the Art of the Grind

    February 28, 2018

Hi Frugal Samuraties! Welcome back to the latest from TheFrugalSamurai. Can you guys believe that it is the end of February already? Far out, soon it will be Easter, then June 30 (end of financial year), and before you know it we are heading into spring and knocking on the door of Xmas. Seriously, where oh where does the time fly. It’s been almost six months since The Frugal Samurai was born (the blog not me, I am older than 6 months), and during that time I’ve written a lot, said a lot and most of all learnt a lot. That’s why I started the blog and continue to plug…
