Reading Time: 3 Minutes What’s up people! Gosh, what a cash splash in the highly anticipated Federal Budget 2020. Money, money, money, everywhere you look. In what was billed (see what I did there) as one of THE most important budgets for Australia since the Great Depression, and the first in a recessionary Australia in almost 30 years – Treasurer Josh Frydenberg rolled out (as expected) a whole bunch of tax cuts, job creation measures and targeted spending to kickstart our economy. And if you don’t have the time nor inclination to read through the mountains of reports and commentary, then welcome to the ONLY guide you’ll need. I’ll take…

September Net Wealth Update
Reading Time: 2 Minutes Hm, looks like things are getting back to normal here in Oz. Thank goodness for that I say, though spare a thought for those Aussies stuck overseas. Because the 2nd wave is washing over the UK, Eurozone and part of the US (or is that the first wave?) Hello uncertainty, my old friend. Oh and speaking of uncertainty… US elections anyone? What a crazy rollercoaster that promises to be. It doesn’t really affect you and I of course, but I’ve always found the US Presidential race the most entertaining reality TV on the planet… so I’ll be well tuned in. Essentially you work backwards from where you want…

August Net Wealth Update
Reading Time: 2 Minutes What a difference a month makes, 2nd wave of lockdowns seem to have worked and I’m hoping that things return to normality soon. No big waves on the personal investing front, apart from some rebalancing of portfolios and a couple of big ticket expense items. Although at the macro level, at time of writing – tech stocks have started to take a beating. Fair enough I say, no company can justify 10x of their value in 6 months. My personal opinion is that investing in most tech stocks is speculating on a story, no more, no less. You can read the July net wealth update here.…

July Net Wealth Update
Reading Time: 2 Minutes The 2nd wave of COVID-19 is well and truly here in Australia, with Victorians doing it pretty tough at the moment with stage 4 lockdowns. Will there be a stage 5? What even is stage 5? I have no idea. It’s pretty full on at the moment, and can only hope that the nation can get through this together. Financially speaking, there was plenty of talk for both the property market and ASX dropping with the coming of the 2nd wave. This… hasn’t… happened. Will it ever? Again, no idea to be honest (my confusion is a recurring theme) as I’ve long stopped caring about forecasts…
