    I’m Still Here!

Reading Time: 2 Minutes So I thought it best to shoot out a quick post just to let everyone know that yes, I am still alive and no, I have not forgotten about you. It’s just been TOO much this past week. I wrote last time (read here) that I had embarked on a whirlwind property scouting weekend a few days ago… And what a few days since! You see, I had shortlisted and viewed a couple of dozen or so properties in those two days, and now it’s time to get stuck into due diligence. So please excuse me as I’ve been trying to cull this one here and…

    Cannabis… A Growing Market?

Reading Time: 3 Minutes Nerves, nerves, nerves. So NERVOUS. How come? Cos I’m THIS close to signing off on choosing a real estate agent to sell one of the properties in the portfolio. As much as I hate selling, I think it’s time. I think so… I mean as part of the annual review, I’ve identified that it isn’t really pulling its weight. The long term fundamentals still remain, but there’s too much ongoing maintenance and other dramas for it to work short-term. And no surprises here with the Scandinavians all well…

    LeanFIRE or FatFIRE?

Reading Time: 4 Minutes 7am on a Sunday morning what do you do? a) sleep, b) renovate your property with all the power tools you can find, c) sleep, If you chose a or c, congratulations! You are a normal person. If you chose b, well done! You are my next door neighbour and we look forward to replying in kind. Sigh, what we get for living in apartments I s’pose. Normally, I’m an early riser – so the noise wouldn’t be so bad – but not when you’ve been perusing some Facebook FIRE groups until the wee hours. There’s a few versions of the FIRE (financial independence retire early)…

4 Lessons of Instagram and Investing

Reading Time: 3 Minutes So this week, we received news that Instagram is rolling out an experiment to see what happens when it hides the number of likes on photos and other posts. It affects users in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Ireland, Italy, Japan and New Zealand. Canada has just finished its trial. No longer will the number of “likes” be shown, rather it will be replaced by one user name and “others”. Under this new system, you can see how many likes your posts get, but your followers won’t be able to – unless they click into the post and count individually… but who would? I would imagine that there…
