Excerpt from The Complete Aussie FIRE e-book (Fuel for the FIRE – Leverage)

    September 13, 2020

Reading Time: 7 Minutes What’s up everyone! Today, I thought I would share a chapter I wrote in the Complete Aussie FIRE e-book guide recently with 20 of the best and brightest in the Australian FIRE community! Reminder that you can grab your free copy (courtesy of Pearler), right here! Excerpt: Chapter 19: Fuel for the FIRE – Leverage Introduction Ah, debt and leverage. Those two words resonate with us all in different ways. Some people embrace and welcome them with open arms. Others cannot run away fast enough. When applied correctly, leverage is the strategic tool that expands our resources beyond our capital limitations to produce greater results than…

    August Net Wealth Update

    September 6, 2020

Reading Time: 2 Minutes What a difference a month makes, 2nd wave of lockdowns seem to have worked and I’m hoping that things return to normality soon. No big waves on the personal investing front, apart from some rebalancing of portfolios and a couple of big ticket expense items. Although at the macro level, at time of writing – tech stocks have started to take a beating. Fair enough I say, no company can justify 10x of their value in 6 months. My personal opinion is that investing in most tech stocks is speculating on a story, no more, no less. You can read the July net wealth update here.…

    4 Types Of Property Locations

    September 2, 2020

Reading Time: 3 Minutes OK peeps, it’s the real deal now. MrsFrugalSamurai and I are in the market officially looking for a place to call our own. Not that we’re homeless at the moment mind you, just that we’re now looking for a place to put down roots for at least a few years. We’ve always been rentvestors, but I think the current market is as good a time as any to call a place our own. Naturally, as I’ve been in the property game for some years now “tugs at lapels on jacket” I have my investor lens on when I’m looking for a place. But let’s face it,…

    July Net Wealth Update

    August 9, 2020

Reading Time: 2 Minutes The 2nd wave of COVID-19 is well and truly here in Australia, with Victorians doing it pretty tough at the moment with stage 4 lockdowns. Will there be a stage 5? What even is stage 5? I have no idea. It’s pretty full on at the moment, and can only hope that the nation can get through this together. Financially speaking, there was plenty of talk for both the property market and ASX dropping with the coming of the 2nd wave. This… hasn’t… happened. Will it ever? Again, no idea to be honest (my confusion is a recurring theme) as I’ve long stopped caring about forecasts…

    June Net Wealth Update

    July 12, 2020

Reading Time: 2 Minutes Amazing that we are past the halfway mark of 2020 already. Does anyone else feel like the height of the pandemic in March was only yesterday BUT somehow feels so long ago? “Puts hand up”. May’s net wealth update highlighted the risk of a 2nd wave, and with Victoria in lock-down and NSW seemingly next, that 2nd wave is on our doorstep. Please. No. More. I think most of us are pretty much over 2020 and just looking forward to 2021. But I feel like we haven’t seen the last of the volatility, and with that – the rollercoaster of the markets… I’ve been trimming some…
