    The Journey Begins

Hello friends, I’m back! First off, have to say thank you all for the overwhelming responses and private messages of support after the last post, very much appreciated! I debated long and hard with myself as to whether to share it, so great to hear you enjoyed it. Apologies for then going AWOL, you must have thought, this guy – pulls us in with his personal expose and then buggers off to gloat and grin like a Cheshire Cat. Not at all friends, have faith people – I was just investigating what I need to do to bring the blog and website up to standard. Seems like the expected shelf life…

    My numbers revealed…

Evening friends! Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday evening! Are you all psyched for Monday? Woot woot! At the very least, I hope you basked in the beautiful Spring weather today. After the last post on feedback I received a goodly number of well, feedback and the consistent theme is to continue to make it personable – “treat it like Reality TV”. Reality TV? Bonus week

This week is BONUS week, OH YEAH – what this means is we finally learn of our reward for all the hard work and efforts of the previous financial year. I soon realised that the word “bonus” was prefixed by the word “discretionary”. Discretionary means your employer’s…

    High Low

Hello friends! Hope you’re having a great weekend so far. Second day of Spring and the weather in Sydney today was beautiiiiful.  One of those days which makes you feel so grateful to be living in this amazing city. Mind you, currently tonight there’s this charcoal smell in the air because Daenerys Targaryen and her ADHD dragons decided to play hide and seek. MrsFrugalSamurai-to-be and I spent our morning having brunch with one of her close friends, his lovely wife and their cute baby boy at a very fancy cafe in the city named “The Grounds of Alexandria”, a most peculiar name considering it is neither grounded nor anywhere near…

    “$1.2 million in the bank”

“$1.2 million” “Say what?” “I made $1.2 million” So went partially the conversation with my colleague at work today – a big hulking Eastern European straight out of the KGB Academy for big hulking Eastern Europeans. Of course, anyone who tells you they made $1.2 million deserves some attention, in fact I would have paid attention to whatever he was saying. 4 years ago he tells me, he purchased a property to live in with his newly married wife. At the start of the Sydney boom, he decided to knock down the run down dwelling and develop a 5 bedroom mansion on the same block.  The sale went through last…
